Wow, we had double the open-class entries that we've had in the past. Thanks to everyone who brought their items to enter, it made for a very successful showing. Thanks goodness, the hall was air-conditioned this year or it would have been almost un-bearable. It was so hot the days of the Fair, actually hotter than a firecracker!!!..Ann's Best of Show quilt was a show stopper. It got lots and lots of comments from people, women and men alike. It is beautiful, all hand appliqued, hand quilted and paper pieced compasses. Gorgeous!! Slide #4 has a nice story that goes with it. When the gal that brought it in to enter, she told that the little framed picture of chickens was drawn by the great-grandmother. So she (the gal) made a quilt to depict the drawn picture. She had some really funky, embellished chickens that were so cute. Now I wish I had taken some close-up pictures of the chickens and the picture.. I guess I just will live and learn..Enjoy the slide show...

On Saturday, July 21st, we had a quilt turning at the Harrison County Fair. This was our 5th annual quilt turning and it was well attended. We had 54 quilts brought to show. Some we had seen before but always nice to see again but most were "new" ones. Many of them were older quilts but some newer too. We think it was a very nice show and hope to do it again next year. I have to admit these aren't the greatest photo's. I could have had a better position and sometimes the holder's were just to fast for me. I hope you enjoy the slide show anyway!!
